This past month, on June 22nd, Cogswell College hosted the 2013 Fusion Awards, which gave me what is likely my greatest level of music recognition to date. I won TWO awards, and was nominated for an additional two categories!
My wins were Best Music Production for , a track I composed and produced for a console game in development, and Best Game for Wizard Prison, a title I am currently working on in various capacities, including as the sole programmer. (The latter award was shared amongst the development team.)
Worlds Apart by Cogswell’s Project X [image]
, the award-winning animated film created by “Project X Productions” at Cogswell College, is now available on YouTube! I worked as the Music Production Engineer for Worlds Apart
back in 2011
as production finally wrapped. My job was to assist composers Jeremiah Dias and Cameron McLaughlin in creating a score that was tailor-made for the film, and stayed true to the director’s vision.
Tinman Soundtrack by Kaleb Grace [art]
Tinman Soundtrack is now available for free on Bandcamp (enter $0). [lossless mirror]
Also, “Monochromatic” is available for free on SoundCloud. This chiptune style track is a sneak preview of the soundtrack to Chroma, a 2D platforming game in development for the Ouya.
Speed of Sound [art]
Navagraha by Speed of Sound is now available for free on Bandcamp (enter $0).
I helped with the creation of this album, and composed my own track, “Mars“, on which Subramanya Ananda and Cameron McLaughlin perform. [lossless mirror]
Navagraha is an album (nearly) completed over two days, with final mixing and mastering done not long afterwards. “Mars” is one of those tracks completed in its entirety over roughly a 24hr period.
The InStereoType group, who will release the album, AuRen [tentative title].
I’ve been working on a good deal of original music this year, and there are several tracks I’ve created that are either complete or 99% there. Unfortunately, most of them are for albums that are not yet finished. I’m not going to give time estimates on any of these, since they are not solely under my control, and are always subject to change. However, I’d at least like to share the names of the albums and tracks to list the “coming attractions”.
I have officially launched a new alias for myself: Tortoisone
This is to be used for commercial electronic music productions. My other music compositions, including game soundtracks, will continue to use the name Kaleb Grace.
Clark & Dagger Original Score is now available for free on Bandcamp.
I am also hosting a mirror of the Clark & Dagger album in lossless quality, should there be any problem with Bandcamp.
This is the original score for Clark & Dagger, a student-developed stealth co-op game which you can get for free on Windows or Mac OS X.
This is an example of my graphic design and illustration work. The school’s mascot is a dragon, so I devised my own little dragon character for inclusion with the textual and other graphical elements. I created the entire logo in the span of a week, and added some additional effects soon afterwards. I may make some further improvements in the future, but I feel this is a good state for public display, and I’m happy with how well I was able to execute the creation.
Clark & Dagger has been released for download (free). I worked with Cameron on the music, and also designed the Cogswell Game Dev Club logo that you see when starting up the game (I will post a finalized version of the logo on my site later).
It has been over six months since my last post, so I wanted to give a status update. I’ve laid my hands on a few different projects, including Worlds Apart, the Cogswell blog, “Creeping Forest Stream”, and Clark & Dagger. Details as follows…
